Hi all I'm in the process of dding the photo feed of ning nomads to friendfeed - so any photos you add should pop up in the friend feed network which I have attached to prolfilatic and various other widgets over networks - so it's all good for increasing reach and more importantly getting the word out without having to spend anything!
I love RSS feeds - if anyone tell you they are dead - don't listen! - as people will eventually realize that in order to get your twitter and websites spread further widgets ans RSS feeds are a great carrier - twitter is great, but it is still a niche market so getting your twitter content onto other more established networks still holds ground
- Just like blogs and websites aren't dead as twitter directs people to the main content via hyperlinks - it is a carrier of information like the blood stream in our bodies is - it's part of the system but not all of it.
Widgets are like television sets, they broadcast the content sent by twitter and other micro blogging apps that have RSS onto whatever network you place them on, so widget give your content links access to places you my not ordinarily be able to promote in directly - in other words it's a form of free advertising on any website you want provided you have profile there and there is some kind of widget or RSS functionality going on.
Think about it Yahoo, Google, Microsoft nearly all of these servers have social networking sites with widgets and apps you can plug in either your twitter feed or a range of feeds. If you have friends on these networks they are more likely to be viewed and clicked on too - takes 5 minutes to cut and paste a profile and tweek it to the style of the site you are on, it's all fun :-)
